POPIA Notice
How ActiveLink Media complies with the Protection of Personal Information Act — and what your rights are as a South African data subject.
About POPIA
The Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA) is South Africa's data protection law. It has been in force since 1 July 2020, with full enforcement from 1 July 2021. ActiveLink Media is based in South Africa and is subject to POPIA for all personal information we process, regardless of where the data subject is located.
This notice applies to all South African data subjects who interact with this site. If you are located outside South Africa, our general Privacy Notice (covering GDPR) may also be relevant to you.
What we collect

Standard server access logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps), used solely for server administration and security.
No cookies, no tracking pixels, no behavioural tracking. No special personal information (health, race, political opinions, criminal history) is requested or processed.
How we meet POPIA's processing conditions
POPIA sets eight lawful conditions for processing personal information. Here is how we meet each one.
- Accountability — Jonathan Taylor is responsible for POPIA compliance across this site and all processing activities.
- Processing limitation — We collect only what is necessary for the stated purpose, with your knowledge and, where required, your consent.
- Purpose specification — Information is collected for specific, stated purposes: responding to enquiries and delivering the newsletter you opted into.
- Further processing limitation — Your information is not used for purposes incompatible with why it was originally collected.
- Information quality — We rely on the accuracy of information you provide and will correct records on request.
- Openness — This notice documents what we collect, why, and how. You are informed at the point of collection.
- Security safeguards — Data is held with reputable service providers using encryption in transit and at rest where applicable. See "How it's protected" below.
- Data subject participation — You may access, correct, or request deletion of your information at any time.
